Whether it's their powerful messages, original eclectic funky-circus tunes, or vibrant energy, The Midnight Dip captivates and compels an audience. This five-piece band from Sacramento, California is witty and unapologetically sincere--confronting gender stereotypes and promoting body positivity. Their captivating, high-energy performances take the audience through a unique and creative theatrical experience. The Midnight Dip is headed by the sultry and moxie Liz Kat, who's voice is mesmerizing and soulful with an undeniable depth of feeling.Though most of the members have a jazz background, the band’s music is unpredictable, with an eclectic blend of swing, funk and polka. This double-keyboard combo is everything sweet and salty, and can perform to a wide variety of audiences, from funky dance tunes in a club to soulful jazz in a seated environment.

The Midnight Dip was one of Capital Public Radio's "Favorite 2019 Northern California Tiny Desk Contestants" and a featured performer at the 2nd Annual Tiny Desk Sacramento Showcase. Nick Brunner of Capital Public Radio describe their music as "something out of a Danny Elfman coloring book."

Welcome to Liz Kat's heart-space. True strength comes from within, like a constant burning furnace that fuels the body and its limbs. Liz Kat, soultress and lead prowess for The Midnight Dip, started the band with a fiery passion and a cacophony of emotions: anger, sadness, love and everything in between. She wanted to inspire the world and counter the lack of female representation in the local music scene. She started playing piano when she was seven years old and only sang when she was alone. Her shyness hindered her from expressing herself musically up until her late teenage years, when she decided to try playing music with other people. She hopes to inspire others to reclaim their power and share their stories as well.
